The Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways Program (SREPs) will invest $964 million in renewable energy and grid modernization projects over the next four years. The program provides financial assistance to businesses and utilities pursuing renewable energy, storage, and smart-grid technology projects. Contributions range from 10% to 50% of the project’s cost.
Federal Green Homes Program
Grants of up to $5,000 may be available to Canadian homeowners for the purchase and installation of energy-efficient home improvements. To access rebates on insulation, window and door replacements, and other home improvements, you must be eligible for an EnerGuide home evaluation.
Federal GST/HST New Housing Rebate
Homeowners may be able to reclaim a portion of the GST or HST paid on newly built or substantially renovated homes. If you are making a large investment in energy efficiency upgrades, this rebate may be beneficial.
Federal Tax Incentive for Clean Energy Equipment
A federal tax credit can also be used by businesses to fully expense clean energy generation and energy efficiency equipment. This entails a CCA rate of 100% and the abolition of the first-year rule.
